In a media release posted February 23rd, 2015 the Ontario Baseball Association and the Select Ontario Baseball Association have successfully completed a merger of the two associations. Moving forward, all branding will continue under the name Ontario Baseball Association (OBA).
What does this mean for teams and players in both leagues? In an article written by the Canadian Baseball Network (http://www.canadianbaseballnetwork.com/articles/baseball-ontario-merges-soba/) all the changes are positive and help continue to promote baseball at a community, Provincial and National level.
Both Presidents offered comments on the merger:
"It is an exciting step forward in brining all of baseball in the province under the same umbrella" - David Huctwith, President of Baseball Ontario.
"We feel strongly that becoming one organization will help avheive the strategic goals of growing the game of baseball in Ontario" - David Black, President of Select Ontario Baseball.
